MasterReplicas Aliens Motion Tracker
Even More Details (and Video)

Even More Details

MasterReplicas is determined to satisfy with their prop replica; the Motion Tracker is covered in details and quality from the metal sling hooks to the sweet paint job to make the tracker look "used". Take your time and click on all the pictures below to take in some master craftsmanship. Pictures speak better than words for this part.

Three run-of-the-mill 1.5v AA Batteries are located in the bottom of the viewing monitor.. You can see the screw to remove the bottom plate close by those LEDS in the pictures above.

I love the subtle details on a replica, it adds to the realism of the movie prop and your satisfaction as a collector! Notice the weathered paint job to simulate paint being worn off from everyday use. Also all the switches, levers and buttons you see are moveable, push-able, etc. The long black box in the "Hidden Speaker" picture, on the left side, pops open revealing a tiny storage box.

 Let's Track Some Aliens!

To close the review we will examine what I would say is the primary feature of this movie replica. The Master Replicas' Aliens Motion Tracker almost perfectly replicates the visual and audio effects the tracker produced in the Aliens movie.

First we have some screen shots from the DVD version of Aliens to show you what the viewing screen on the Motion Tracker looked like in the actual film. Then below those are pictures of the MasterReplicas prop. Note that the actual prop in the movie had no working screen. They used film tricks to make it seem that way, but in the scenes where they show the visual effects on the viewer; what you are actually seeing is a small CRT monitor.

Click.. Click.. PING... PING.. 7 METERS!!

The screen on Master Replicas prop, BRAVO!

The first thing you notice is the color difference, though in real life it's not as different as it looks on here. The movie film was fairly dark and my pictures are kind of yellow\cyan tinted.

How did they do the screen effects? From what I understand, they used EL material, LED's and other tricks. You may be thinking, "okay but its just a static, lit up picture right?" WRONG, the "Aliens", have simulated motion and there is a "sonar wave" that zips out from the center of the screen. It looks nearly the same as in the movie with only two exceptions, the "range lines" do not rotate and the "distance to target" does not change. It would have been really cool if they were able to replicate the moving lines and the distance digits changing, but that would have been a whole new level of difficulty and expense added on. (which would translate down to a higher price for the buyer)

To activate the "Tracking Simulation" you simply pull the trigger and then randomly 1 of 8 different sequences will begin. Each sequence consists of different numbers of aliens moving at several speeds and patterns towards the center of the screen (you).

See how cool this is in real life! Download the video below to see a clip of the light and sound effects!

After you see the clip and hear the sound effects, I think you will agree that Master Replicas got this replica as close to the "real thing" as possible, while still keeping it affordable for a collector.

Summary

The MasterReplicas' Aliens Motion Tracker is one amazing piece of work. If you are familiar with movie props, collect them or are just obsessed with the Aliens series of movies, you will LOVE this replica. Attention to detail and quality construction make this a worthwhile investment for a movie prop collector. The addition of visual and sound effects make this a great showoff piece for taking to a CosPlay or Sci-Fi convention. You would have a hard time finding a better Sci-Fi movie replica than this.

I am giving the Motion Tracker high ratings for MasterReplicas research, effort, detailed work and going so far as to add the graphics and sounds. It is pricey, but these are cheap compared to other Limited Edition movie prop lines I have seen. I feel the value outweighs the price. If you love Aliens, you owe it to yourself to get one of these!
